New Testament accounts clearly show that Jesus lived neither as a reclusive hermit nor as a maniacal social butterfly. He manifested himself as both a highly visible public and a behind-the-scenes private man. As is often the case, public faithfulness or failure remains directly proportional to the faithfulness or failure in private. Jesus knew that these tendencies went together.
